Box Assembly Guide

Our boxes are made of Australian Pine and are supplied untreated.

Assembly

Un assembled boxes should be glued with a waterproof wood glue making sure all contact areas receive glue. Then nail with galvanized nails or screws keeping the box level and square by using a set square or other box as a guide and a flat level surface. A strap clamp or large G clamp assists with getting the box tight before nailing. The boxes will often be uneven at the corners and should be planed or sanded to get them level, this is done to allow for shrinkage in the timber prior to assembly.

Painting.

The recommended paint is gloss exterior acrylic house paint in a light color to reduce heat retention. We recommend painting 4 coats on the outside only making sure to work the paint into any end grain on the joints.
